Who is responsible for electricity infrastructure?
The electricity distribution network in Tasmania is owned by TasNetworks.
Generally, TasNetworks also owns the first span of conductor from the distribution network to the point it attaches to the first pole on private land. The landowner or customer is responsible for any infrastructure beyond that point.
Transformers and associated transformer poles, cross arms and fuses remain in the ownership of TasNetworks, even if they’re on private land.
Where electricity infrastructure on private land supplies more than one customer, it is the responsibility of those customers to make arrangements to maintain the private infrastructure supplying them.
