Who installs electricity meters?
Electricity retailers are responsible for installing all new electricity meters in Tasmania. The new meters are called ‘smart meters’, ‘advanced meters’ or ‘type 4 meters’. Smart meters are meters that can transmit data about electricity use remotely.
For any issues to do with installing meters, you should contact your electricity retailer.
Before 1 December 2017, TasNetworks was responsible for installing meters. TasNetworks remains responsible for the meters they installed. For any issues with these meters, you should contact TasNetworks.
